About Toastmasters

Read more at the official site.

Toastmasters isn't about toast, it's about talk. The average person speaks thousands of words per day, and we are all judged on the content and style of our speech. Toastmasters is a non-profit, volunteer run organization that gathers people together to practice and improve the communication skills of our members.

The average Toastmasters club consists of 20-30 people, and meets once a week. Every meeting contains multiple opportunities to practice prepared and extemporaneous speaking in front of a group of peers. Each member knows that public speaking takes practice, and we try to foster a safe and encouraging environment in which we can talk the talk.

Your ability to speak isn't the only thing that will improve with participation in Toastmasters. Every speech given first must be written, and members often comment that their writing becomes more natural and fluid as they progress through the programs offered by Toastmasters.
